👋 Overview
ShopShare is a collaborative shopping list app. We take your privacy seriously and only collect what is strictly necessary to make the app work.
📋 What We Collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:
- Your name and email address
- Your profile photo URL (from your Google account)
- A unique user ID assigned by Google
When you use the app, we also store:
- Shopping items and lists you create
- List membership (who is in a shared list)
- A gender preference if you set one (optional, used for avatar display only)
🎤 Microphone & Voice Input
ShopShare uses the RECORD_AUDIO permission to enable voice input for adding shopping items hands-free.
- Microphone access is used only when you actively tap the voice input button
- Audio is processed on your device by the operating system's built-in speech recognition service (e.g. Google Speech Recognition on Android)
- We do not receive, store, record, or transmit your voice or audio data to our servers
- No audio recordings are retained after the speech-to-text conversion is complete
☁️ Where Data Is Stored
All data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), hosted on Google's secure cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
We use Firebase's default security rules to ensure users can only access their own lists and lists they have been invited to.
🚫 What We Don't Do
- We do not sell or rent your data
- We do not show ads
- We do not track your behaviour across other apps or websites
- We do not store or transmit voice recordings
- We do not share your data with any third party except Google Firebase (for storage) and Google Sign-In (for authentication)
🗑️ Data Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us at ss.yourexplorerhub@gmail.com.
We will delete your data within 30 days of receiving your request.
👶 Children's Privacy
ShopShare is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately.
🔄 Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
